Happy May Day!

Hope April Showers brought you many May Flowers this year! For my Socialist Family and Friends, I wish you a Happy May Day!

Yesterday I took this guy, minus the stitch counters into Eclectic Treasures. While there the owner admired my hat and said she thought that they would sell. So now my May's WIPP will be Hats, starting with Rustle Park Sun Hat a Shannon-Jaide Hyland design.

I have almost finished the 2nd panel of the Lace Tent a design by Heidi Hengel Nieling. Got the bodice done on the Cropped Bomber Jacket and now am working on the Waist Ribbing. Finished another Rosa Plant Hanger.

See you next month if not sooner.

Mannequin Heads & Hats at Eclectic Treasures in Baraboo, WI

Front, Back and Face Close-Up

Happy April Fool's Day

On March 20th, my Monitor went on the fritz, so Ray and I headed into Baraboo. To pick up a new one. When we pulled into the parking space in front of the Radio Shack, we saw a group of people going in. So we went across the street to Eclectic Treasures, where we found out that I sold one of the Mannequin Heads for $15.00. Shop owner said I should make some more. Since I also sold 1 at Baraboo Vintage back in August. I thought it would be good to have as my WIPP (Work In Progress Project) for this Month It will be the Marcia Garcia-Tello design of Mannequin Heads with my twist with putting a face on them.

I am going to finish the Infant size one that I have not finish from 2020 January's WIPP. I choose to do them in off white, because I thought they would sell the best. But, now I am thinking of adding other solid colors or multi-color shades to the heads.

I first started to make these to show off my hats that I made. And were surprised that they sold. As long as they sell I will make them.

My other WIPP for this year are coming along. Finished one panel and about 1/4 of another done of the Lace Tent. On the sweater I am about 2/3s done with the body. And I finished one hanging basket and working on another one.

If you are wondering I got a bigger monitor, a 27" one along with a Bluetooth Keyboard. I love them both.

3 Finished Hip Hop Neck Pillow

from a Tracee Fromm Pattern for November 2020 Issue of Pattern Pak Pro

It's March Already Wow!

Yesterday Morning, when I went out to check the weather, I heard a Sandhill Crane. And when I went for my walk up Luebke Road in the afternoon, I saw the crane in a neighbors field. I also saw a Heron, I don't know if it was a Blue or Green one since I really did not get a good look to see which one it was. Too me that is sign of Spring in the air, It also helps that we have been having a prolong thaw.

My March Work-In-Progress-Project is Hanging Plant Baskets, I thought with spring coming that would be an excellent quick to make and easy seller. Even with the Pandemic still in progress I think they will sell. The first one I am making is Rosa Plant Hanger s Kristi Simpson design.

Making great progress on the first of Feb. WIPP, a Cropped Bomber Jacket. I have got as far as starting to seperate the front panels and the back.

On the Lacy Tent for Jan. WIPP, I just got to finished putting the border to the first panel and I will have that one done.

The top photos are December's finished WIPPs.

If I don't blog until next month, wishing you all a Pleasant March.

That is all I have to say for now. I might be add more later this week.

Wishing Everyone a Much, Much Better New Year!

I decided to take 2021 by both hands and restart somethings. Like this blog which I see that I have not blog in since 2012. A lot has happened in the last 9 years.

One of the most bittersweet things that happen is that my Mother decided to end her life in August 2019. It is hard for me to call it suicide exactly, since she had made it as a plan. She had decide that when her body started to give out in her opinion, that she would end it. I was more upset by her selfishness, then I am sad about. It was another disappointment to me in a long line, through our relationship.

Enough said. On to what my plans are…

In the past years I have had a WIPP: Work-In-Progress Project for every month. 2021 is not going to be any different. Starting with January, WIPP is a Design by Heidi Hegel Neiling; Lace Tent from Happy Hooking Magazine #78 Outdoors Sept. 2020. I chose to do this as the first because, of the time it is going to take to do just one of these. It will probably take me more then a year to do just one.

The way I do my WIPPs is that each month I start a new rotation of projects. For example: Today, I will start by doing 1 row of a test stitch gauge of the pattern for the Lace Tent. Tomorrow, I will do 2 rows of the Lace Tent, and 1 row of December's WIPP (Which is pillows). On the 3rd it will be 3 rows of the tent, 2 rows of Pillow and 1 row of November's WIPP (Which is Fingerless/Texting Gloves), etc. To not get myself in a tease, I let go at a certain point in doing a certain amount every day. And just do it by rotation.

My Hopes for this Blog, Facebook Page, Etc.…

Is too at least beginning very month, I will blog about how my WIPPs are doing and what is the one for that month. I hope to do weekly updates on the Facebook Page.

Here is too New Restarts and Adventures for the Year!

Making of My Father Socks
My Father turned 80, last September (2001), we had quite a Birthday Bash for him. So, as part of his Birthday, I decided to make him a pair of socks out of Lion Brand Recycled Yarn. I did not finished them until April. And to honor Him on this Father's Day, I thought I will finally write a post on making of these socks.

Since this is Father's Day (June 17, 2012)  I will tell you one of the good things that my father did for us three kids. My Sister Connie was the oldest, then my brother Dan came 2 years after her and I came 2 years after him. Until I was about 8 or 9 I was known as Lynnie. My father use to tell us stories when we were very young of the adventures of Connie, Danny and Lynnie.

Best Father and Daughter times for me was when we were working on something together. It could be doing something like putting a wood floor on his old VW Beetle. However; I think the most important times was in making sure that I learn my telephone number and the Basic Math Skills.

I was lucky to grow-up when Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorders were around. My father set-up his Reel-to-Reel with a on going loop. He had me record our telephone number on to that loop and that is how I memorized it.  I believe I also learned the times table using that same method. Later on he taught me how to use a Sliding Ruler. Having the basic math skills down, helped me to score very high on my GED Math Test… even thou I did not have some of the higher Math Classes.

When I had a decision to make between Woodworking and Printing programs at Madison Area Technical College, he influence my decision in taking Printing, since I already had some skills on woodworking. I have never regretted that decision. Since that is where I met my Husband and partner in business,

This is before the first frogging (ripping out). Cuffs, Legs, Heel done. Gusset done on the sock at the right. Sock on the left needed to be frogged to the heel.

I found eventually I had to frog both socks and to use the Bobby pins to keep count of the stitches.
After frogging, ready to get the gusset correctly done.

Making progress after the second frogging. The sock on the right is in the midst of the heel. One thing about crocheting is that you can keep going back to starting over until you get it right. Good lesson in learning patience without frustration.

Both socks now have the gussets done. Whew!

Ready to start on the toes.

Just 1 more row to go on each.

This pattern was done out of Crochet!   January 2011 Issue. "Just Hangin' Out Socks", Designed by Janet Rehfeldt.

This was my second pair of socks done in this pattern. The other pair was done in some Bamboo Yarn and it came out way to stretchy.  This pair came out loose.

1st Pair Done in Bamboo.
To my Papa… Happy Father's Day 2012!

Cropped Bomber Jacket - V

Finished Sweater
This is the same pattern that is mention in the previous blog, Cropped Bomber Jackets. The original pattern was on the front cover of Crochet, September 2002 Issue. The Designer is Darla Sims. My main variation of Ms. Sims design was to add stripes into the pattern, instead of being a solid color (white).

On number 3 & 4, I added the variation of having a single crochet border edging to the body before putting on the ribbing, which made a border on between the pattern of the body and the ribbing.

On this version I did another variation. Which I will go into later on.
The yarns I used on this sweater is Bernat Satin. The below picture shows the colors in detail. From the bottom to the top: Soft Fern, Fern, Forest Heather and Lavender.

The picture on the upper right shows the new variation of 1/2 Double Crochet Row for trimming. I also added 1/2 Double Crochet Row to the bottom of the sleeves before putting on ribbing.

I left long strands of yarn to make sure on both the arms and shoulders to make sure that I least have enough thread to sew around twice.

I hope you enjoyed this posting.
